Vision

|
| Odyssey 2. a long series of wanderings or adventures, especially when filled with notable experiences, etc.
While so many companies out
there are trying to make a buck off of single people, we maintain a
membership-free mostly cover charge-free group of singles who want
nothing more than to have fun with other singles. For any two
drink minimum we may charge at the door or for those rare events where
there is some sort of cover charge, that money goes right back into the
costs of putting on the event. All we're about is having fun and
that's what we want for the people who join and attend our events.
Come join us!

Pay attention, there will be a test later.

|
|
5.10 - The Organizing team continues to grow including
the additions of Julie, Mark and Kathie. New regular events include
a weekly walk/hike in Newport, bike ride in Huntington, monthly "Newbie
Night" and a monthly Karaoke at Durty Nelly's which everyone who
attends has loved.
|
|
1.10 - Singles Odyssey is born. Due to a
combination of feeling that the name SoCal Singles Events no longer suited
us and a desire to find a name that more
accurately describes our vision we changed our name to Singles Odyssey and
moved our web site to www.SinglesOdyssey.org.
www.SoCalSinglesEvents.org
will remain functional and pointing to the new site until the domain
registration expires.
|
|
12.09 - The Organizing Team continues to grow.
After adding Domino, Donna and Jan to the team on October, Tom and Glen
joined us in December. If you have an interest in joining the
team, let Emily, Angel or Ken know as we are always looking for quality
people who want to be involved.

|
|
4.09 - www.
SoCalSinglesEvents.org starts paid advertising. After repeated requests from business
owners we began to allow businesses to advertise on our site and also
placed Google Ads on our site. The decision was made early on that
any money earned from these ads would go right back into advertising the
group so that more singles could find us and there would be more people
for everyone to have fun with at the events. If you wish to
advertise with us, click on the "Advertise Here" link at the
bottom of the right hand column of ads or Email ken@SinglesOdyssey.org
for details. Paid advertising rates on this site are very
inexpensive...so inexpensive you could even put up a personal ad and
link it to your Meetup.com profile or just about any other dating site
profile you wanted to.

|
| 3.09 - At our One Year Anniversary
as SoCal Singles we celebrated with our third singles party at The Queen
Mary. As before at The Queen Mary many of us took advantage of the
reduced room rates, we got even more of a discount than we had for the two
previous parties. Click Here
for pictures from that party.

|

|
| 2.09 - In February 2009 we found Datehookup.com,
another free dating site that allowed for posting of events, and started
cultivating a relationship with them. We test drove their forums
and posted our Red, White and Black Valentine's day party. It was
a huge success and we continue to work with them. Click
Here for pictures from that party.

|

|
| 11.08 - The months of November
and December 2008 were a big ones for us. It started with our
"Hair Of The Dog That Bit You Halloween Party" the day after Halloween (Click
Here for pictures), included our second party at The Queen Mary
pictures) and ended with two holiday parties (Click
Here for pictures of the first and Click
Here for pictures from the second).

|

|
| 8.08 - On 8.1.08 we had our
first Singles Party at The Queen Mary. Over 350 Singles came, danced
and had a great time. Many took advantage of the discounted room
rates that The Queen Mary made available to us. Click
Here to see pictures from this party. In August we also
went on our first Cruise. Click

|

|
| 7.08 - The first
installment of "The Scoop" is posted to www.
SoCalSinglesEvents.org.
This is Emily's column about the happenings around SoCal Singles and the
dating world in general. Click Here
to read the current Scoop.

|
| 6.08 - The dating
web site where this all started decided that we were making a business
out of these parties and banned us from posting them on their
site without warning or appeal. This happened just a few days before a scheduled party at The
Tee Room and less than 6 weeks before our first party at The Queen
Mary. Click Here
to see pictures from the June Tee Room Party. Never being people
to give up, the parties went on and were great successes so the decision was
made to continue without the support of the singles site and make www.SoCalSinglesEvents.org and
Meetup.com our primary online resources.

|
| 3.08 - We started
the Meetup.com
group as well as www.SoCalSinglesEvents.org
and took the name SoCal Singles.

|
| 12.07 - After two more parties,
now having been moved to the Tee Room in Newport Beach for more
capacity, we had our first Holiday Party. We drew over 450 singles
to this party and realized that we were onto something with regards to
the group which had still not yet been named. By the time this
party was over most of the hosts had found each other and the group of
organizers was
starting to take shape. Click
Here for pictures from this party.

|

|
| 9.07 - With the party on 8.17.07
being such a success another party was scheduled at Martini Blues.
This time another of our current hosts helped to organize it.
However, her son was injured in combat in Iraq and she was not able to
attend the party as she had to go to Texas to be with him. One of
the party attendees, stepped in to help out at the door and help to make
the party a success. Click
Here to see the pictures from this party.

|

|
| 8.07 - Mostly as a means to fill
a room for his band, one of our current hosts found that a singles site
allowed posting singles events in the forums area of the site and with
the help of another member of the site posted a show at Martini Blues in
Huntington Beach. About 80 singles showed up and everyone had a
great time. Click
Here to see the pictures from this party. |
